Global Cell Phone Scam, for Tech Geeks

Ever notice smart phones tend to lag before disconnection? Ever notice how much screwing around it takes to hang up on a caller if you’re using your hands free kit and have the phone in your pocket? It’s usually easier to let them hang up than scramble for your phone, home key, swipe, key in your pin, home key, tap the call, tap end call (in the case of iPhones) right? Well I got to wondering, just why do modern smart phones, even when you DO hang up, take so long to drop the connection? I figure it’s big money.

Let’s assume you don’t roll over into a new 30 second block, and merely pay per second, and let’s give it a really conservative estimate of 1 cent per second. The average time to drop carrier for my iPhone 3G’s and my iPhone 3GS is between 6-8 seconds. There are over 4.6 billion mobile phone subscriptions in the world. Let’s assume that all of these lag 6 seconds for efficacy of fact. That’s $240,000,000 in phone fees just from one design flaw coming out of every mobile phone owners pocket.

Let’s go one step further and assume that each phone makes one call per business day of the week, that’s $1.2 billion per week. I guess designing flaws in your technology is big business, because you know there’d be kick backs. Let’s not even count in the money makers of voice mail, or other scammy crap. $62.4 BILLION per annum, and remember these are conservative estimates.

Lisa Williams (@lwmedium) Charlatan ‘Psychic’

Lisa, Lisa, Lisa. Where do I begin? I recently saw an advert for her upcoming show, that was filmed by the Lifetime channel. She opens with her common pitch line, “Do you want to know everything?” What you won’t hear her telling you is that she is merely a charlatan who exploits the pain and suffering of people grieving using cold reading. Let’s set one thing straight, psychics and mediums do not exist. Conmen and women do. There has not been, in thousands of years of scientific documentation, one SINGLE example of the supernatural or paranormal existing under ANY scrutiny by learned and educated persons. It’s not because academics are closed minded, or have it in for the little guy, or have ANY other motivation other than pushing forward common sense, critical thought, and legitimate honesty of fact. Many deluded people out there honestly think it goes as far as there being complex conspiracies to conceal the ‘truth’ about ‘human psychic potential’, et cetera. In 1988 the U.S. National Academy of Sciences gave a report on the subject that concluded there is “no scientific justification from research conducted over a period of 130 years for the existence of parapsychological phenomena.”[1]

Let’s examine this critically: Not a scrap of evidence ever put forwards that can stand up to scrutiny, or giant illuminati plot to enslave and opress humanity. You tell me which one comes up in that fight.

Cold reading, combined with warm or hot reading, is the method by which all ‘psychics’ operate. Many people do this for a living as mentalists, or magicians; these people when asked will usually be outright honest about their art and it’s complete lack of supernatural or paranormal involvement. In 2004, Williams gave a reading to a senior staff member of TV host Merv Griffin. As a result, Griffin worked with her to host a show of her own. The proverbial path to ruin is laid with good intent.  Lisa Williams: Life Among the Dead aired for two seasons on the Lifetime network 2006-2007 and is set to air in Australia shortly. Her show Lisa Williams: Voices From the Other Side ran for five consecutive nights on the network in October 2008. The shows followed Williams on a typical day, as she claims to have ‘communicated with the dead,’ ‘investigates haunted houses,’ and conducts other ‘spirit-seeking activities.’ She claims she has spoken to Bob Hope, Princess Diana, Natalie Wood, Marilyn Monroe and Ray Charles after they died.

Let’s examine a well known psychic critically: A 2001 Time article reported that psychic John Edward allegedly utilized hot reading on his television show, Crossing Over, where an audience member who received a reading was suspicious of prior behavior from Edward’s aides, who had struck up conversations with audience members and asked them to fill out cards detailing their family trees.[2] In December 2001, Edward was alleged to have used foreknowledge to hot read in an interview on the television show Dateline, where a reading for a cameraman was based on knowledge gained in conversation some hours previously, yet presented as if he was unaware of the cameraman’s background.[3] In his 2001 book, John Edward denied ever using foreknowledge, cold or hot reading.[4]

I am VERY familiar with these methods and have used them out of the blue on random people in the streets of Sydney to illustrate the power of commonality to friends, and I know a close friend of mine, mentalist and stage magician Ryle Hilton, is exceptional at his art and absolutely blows peoples minds. I am not detracting from the SKILL involved in these acts, merely that using it to con and exploit people into believing only YOU can give them closure with their dead loved ones is abhorrent.

The following is sourced under fair use from Same Same, a publication for the Australian Gay and Lesbian Community that addresses some of the core elements of fail that is applied when handling ‘psychics’ in the press, with my comments in brackets.

Over the years Lisa has been challenged by many skeptics, including her own father. “He’s one of the biggest skeptics around!” she laughs. “But Dad has also seen first hand what I can do, and he’s seen how I give people a feeling of closure, and he says ‘you know what Lisa, I can’t take that away from you’.” [The closure given is fair enough, but the financial exploitation is unforgivable.]

One of the most public challenges Lisa has faced was with a skeptic named Laura on an episode of ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’. Lisa said that during the reading she kept offering Laura details that should have resonated – like her father’s name, or that he was a ballroom dancer – but Laura remained unconvinced, and was intent on getting cold, hard facts. [Note the use of negative terms such as ‘skeptic’ just because someone was unconvinced.]

“I gave her the name John, but she wanted his full name, that kind of thing. I told her ‘I am only telling you what he is giving me, I can’t make it change’. I almost got up and walked away. I said, ‘if you’re not open to this then there’s no point in me being here’.” [Ie: Dummy spit.]

Lisa says that she often reads comments about her in online forums, where people dispute her authenticity. “People say ‘oh Lisa Williams gets all the ticket data and uses that to do background checks on people who come to her show’. Well hello, it’s just me. I don’t have a team of researchers. I certainly don’t put microphones in the bathrooms or under the seats. I laugh at it. Of course, when it comes to TV, the producers get given a certain story. The talent tells them ‘I want to communicate with my mum because of…’ but often there’s another story that comes out or that I bring out. [Lol.]

The last paragraph was the best, she admits that–like John Edwards–she has access to the core information, the ‘other story’ that ‘comes out’ is where the cold/warm/hot reading elements come into this.

I figured I would take these channels publishing her crap to bat and sent an email, given that the Lifestyle Channel and W are sponsors of my online life and commonly compensate me for critical evaluation (public or otherwise) of their programs or services, and considering I have a larger demographic reach than Lisa it will be interesting to see if they make a stoic legitimate call or just kowtow to a fast easy buck like a heroin dealer down a dark alley.

Here is a copy of one of my emails in it’s entirety: –

I am writing as a blogger who [details of financial arragements excised]. I write specifically to request that–in an effort to maintain fairness, legitimacy, honesty and integrity–that you cease publication of Lisa Williams, the ‘medium’ and other such charlatans.

Sure, you get viewers, sure you make a quick buck; but these people are exploiting the ignorance and idiocy of the masses, much like a drug dealer who peddles his wares amongst the foolish. These lecherous conmen and women exploit the pain and suffering of people by lying through their teeth, and there are avenues to be pursued for large financial and fame rewards if any individual can prove ANY element of the supernatural or paranormal exists through JREF, however most of these scum refuse to claiming they don’t want ‘wealth’ (even though they charge extortionate fees to fundamentally give people a pat on the back and tell them their dead family still love them), and none of these people pursue this proof of their talents for obvious reasons.

I am posting this letter on my blog, which will be replicated throughout my social networks and blogs demographic reach meaning over half a million people will view this within 24 hours. I would like a reply to this, and I advise you now it will be published as will your choice to continue to air these exploitative shows or otherwise. I hope you make the right decision.

So for now, I advise all of you to pass this on to your wanky airy fairy friends who believe in the supernatural and like a suppository of testicular fortitude it should thwart their idiocy, and stay tuned for the results of my correspondence to these networks, if they even dare reply. Oh, and Lisa, and I know your PR agent has shown you this because with my reach they wouldn’t be worth a pinch of shit if they haven’t, this isn’t a PR nightmare for you honey; it’s just a wake up call that you should get a day job that DOESN’T involve exploitation. In 50 years people like you will be locked up in prison for these crimes you perpetrate on innocent and vulnerable people.

And people like me, who’re probably only in for a night stay due to drunk and disorderly in public, will make sure you drop the soap. 😉

Valve Release Portal 2 ARG (Alternate Reality Game)

The seemingly-massive Valve ARG that started with a mystery update to Portal could be teasing either Portal 2 or Half-Life 2: Episode 3 – or both.

On Monday, a surprise patch to the three-year-old fan favorite Portal spawned a massive Alternate Reality Game that had internet communities from Steam to Something Awful racing to figure out the puzzles. Two days later, we may not have the puzzle solved, but we have a lot of very interesting new information – frustratingly, there’s very little that’s concrete; everything that the intrepid puzzle-solvers have uncovered seems to be just designed to tantalize and tease.

The original post in its entirety is below, and while I’ll attempt to recap the new information, it really does help to go to the Steam forums themselves.

Most of the new stuff seems to have come from the ASCII images – a cleaned-up version can be found here, and a colorized version can be seen here. There are plenty of fan theories bouncing around the forums: For instance, some fans are speculating that what I called “Vortigaunts holding hands” in the original post (second column, at the bottom) are possibly Combine super-soldiers as seen in the Half-Life 2 games.

More interesting, though, is this image, which appears to show what could very well be an ASCII-ized screenshot from a hypothetical Portal 2. And then there’s this, which is unmistakably a human female holding what could be the iconic Portal Gun – perhaps the game’s protagonist, Chell?

The mysterious ASCII images aren’t the only things fans have uncovered, though. There are also some “confidential” Aperture Science documents that offer some insight into the workings of the secretive laboratory – ideal “Low Risk” candidates for testing include “hoboes [sic] and tramps, orphans and foundlings, psychiatric patients and seniors” – as well as its founder, Cave Johnson.

“A lot of you have been raising concerns about the so-called “dangers” of what we’re all doing here. The beancounters told me to tell you that as of today, testing will no longer be as mandatory or as dangerous. That’s not gonna happen and here’s the reason.

Science isn’t about why, it’s about why not. You ask: Why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: Why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won’t hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired.

Plus, in the event of your death, I personally guarantee that, thanks to the form you were required to sign this morning, your family will not suffer the indignities of a prolonged and costly legal battle against Aperture Science. Trust me, I am rich, and it is a burden I would not wish on anyone.”

It’s clear that much of this is white noise, designed to mislead as much as it is to inform – but how much of it is made up of red herrings, and what does it all mean?

The immediately obvious answer is that this would all seem to be pointing towards a reveal for Portal 2, but the presence of main-series Half-Life imagery leads some to believe that there could be an Episode 3 unveiling in the works as well. Perhaps Portal 2 will bridge the two series together, leading to an epic conclusion?

We’ll probably find out on March 11th.

Update: The game now has a new ending. Shock!

The original post is below in its entirety:

A surprise content patch to the three-year-old Portal yesterday has spawned a feverish race on the internet to decode an ARG that seems to be teasing… something big.

There’s something lurking behind the scenes in Valve-land.

It all started yesterday when owners of the beloved physics-puzzle FPS Portal discovered that the game had a new content patch – which was odd, given its age. That innocuous little patch has since spurred a massive race on the internet between communities like Steam and Something Awful, as they scramble to unravel an ARG that appears to be teasing a new Valve game. (An ARG, by the way, is an Alternate Reality Game – something that asks gamers to figure out real-life puzzles; arguably the most famous example of which is Halo 2‘s ilovebees. It could also stand for the noise you make when you can’t figure out the puzzle).

There’s a ton of dizzying information about the game so far, and we’re still learning more, but I’ll attempt a recap: The Portal update included a new mystery achievement, and people who loaded the game up again found that the radio in the starting chamber now had a green light. If players stood in certain areas of the Aperture Science test chamber while carrying the radio, it would start to emit strange static interference.

While they could have done things the hard way, it was much easier to just rip the .wav files from the game itself. The static turned out to be a code when fed through a steganography program (*I have been corrected on this – more below*), a code that resulted in numbered images which – when fed through another program – led to a land line in Kirkland, WA (near Valve’s HQ). Only it wasn’t a land line at all, but a data line for an encrypted BBS. On said BBS, people found strange data which turned out to be interesting ASCII pictures.

Some of the pictures are unmistakable: Vortigaunts holding hands, an Aperture Science door, the defense turrets (turn your head to the right), and of course nefarious AI, GLaDOS herself. This is where everything stands right now, because the internet is still trying to figure it out.

One interesting little tidbit of information: The ASCII information identifies the crazy AI antagonist as GLaDOS v3.11 – and as it happens, 3/11 (that is, March 11th) is the day on which Valve head honcho Gabe Newell will be receiving the Game Developers Choice Pioneer Award at GDC. Could the man be planning on making some sort of surprise announcement or reveal?

And if he is, just what would he be revealing? We’ve already been told that Half-Life 2: Episode 3 won’t be coming this year, but there’s always Portal 2.

Curiouser and curiouser, indeed. Between this, the ApocalyPS3, and the Infinity Ward lockdown, yesterday was a really weird day for gaming.

ARG!

Update: 7r3nd has written in to inform me exactly what happened regarding the .wav files and the information encoded therein – and how no steganography was involved. I’m going to be honest and say that this is a bit beyond me, so rather than try to offer another explanation that’d only end up muddying the information, I’m going to just copy/paste it below.

There’s some information noted in the “Crazy Valve ARG Teases … Portal 2?” posting which is incorrect.

Several of the dinosaur wav files that were extracted from the new portal gcf that were not morse code sound files, were actually SSTV transmissions, and not steganography as reported in the posting.

SSTV is just an audible way to transmit an image.

Essentially what is required is to play the audio back and pipe it to SSTV software which reads the data from the audio stream and in turn displays the actual image is is contained in the data.

More about SSTV can be read here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slow-scan_television

There was not steganography involved.

It sounds very much like listening to the audio noise generated when you listen in on a modem.

The resulting images were analyzed and noticed that certain characters where cricled.

The circled characters where collected and ended up making a 32 character string which turned out to be an MD5 hash.

More on MD5 here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Md5

The MD5 hash ended up being a hash for the phone number for the BBS.

The BBS itself was not encrypted. It was just necessary to use the correct terminal settings to display the content properly.

Once the content displayed correctly, a username and password was required.

The username and password was provided trough the transposed morse code that was extracted from the dinosaur wav files.

It still sounds like techno-voodoo to me, but glad to know that the people working on this know what they’re doing!

AUS R18+ Petition, Ending Feb 28

UPDATE: Submissions to the Government close on February 28. Once this closes, it may be many years before Australian’s get a chance to raise this issue again.

EB Games has launched a petition, which you can sign at any of their 350 stores, urging the Government to bring in an R18+ classification so that games deemed too graphic for the current MA15+ rating can still be sold without massive edits that impact on gameplay.

Despite the average age of a gamer being 30, Australia remains one of the last major territories in the world in which an R18+ rating for gaming does not exist. As a result, games that fail to get the MA15+ rating are either banned or require editing to pass the Classification’s Board’s strict guidelines.

Last year the Federal Government released a discussion paper on whether or not an R18+ rating for games should be adopted and called for submissions. EB Games managing director Steve Wilson said the company started the petition after finding overwhelming support for R18+ ratings from customers, News Ltd. polls depicted a 98%+ demographic demanding a fair go and an EB Games poll on the R-rating attracted more than 50,000 respondents, with 84 per cent voting in favour of an 18+ game rating.

Submissions to the Government close on February 28.

“Once this government paper is closed, it could be many years before we get another chance to voice our opinion on this issue.” Mr Wilson said the call for an R18+ rating was not to gain access to more violent or sexual content in games.

“This is not a call for violent video games but rather a call for a better classification system that brings Australia in line with the rest of the world and other Australian entertainment industries, such as films,” he said.

Recently the Classification Board overturned a decision to ban up-coming title Aliens Vs Predator after game publisher Sega appealed against the decision while refusing to edit the game in any way, stating that their game will turn better profits in nations where their Governments believe their citizens are mature enough to evaluate their choice of entertainment for themselves without Government interference.

Games edited for Australian players include Left 4 Dead 2 and Grand Theft Auto IV – the latter broke sales records in 2008, both of which on many platforms include impacting gameplay butchering which leads to incompatible play with international players, especially along the Xbox Achievement and Gamer Point reward system.

Japanese Whalers Caught Lying

After super conservative fuckwits jumped up and down while the mainstream media was being ambiguous about the ramming of the Ady Gil, originally referring to it as ‘allegedly rammed’, more video has come to light, and even the mainstream media are releasing the footage from the Ady Gil’s cameraman around about the place that shows without doubt the Japanese vessel moved to ram the Ady Gil, which was floating dead in the water with all crew on deck taking a break, including the captain.

Earlier in the week, Japanese whalers and their puppet ‘research’ groups in New Zealand (who have, off the record, been showing strong pro-whaling flags backing Japan, in exchange for Japanese funding of course) claimed that the Ady Gil pulled in their way at the last minute causing the collision and went as far as demanding that Australia intervene against Sea Shepherd.

Captain Paul Watson of Sea Shepherd announced that $170,000 was pledged in the first few hours after the incident while more was flooding in following the screening of a Sea Shepherd advert featuring Transformers actress Isabel Lucas to replace the $3,000,000 dollar stealth yacht the whalers sunk.

Captain Watson also praised Australian Acting Prime Minister Julia Gillard – who has been accused by Japan of inflaming public opinion and making diplomatic resolution of the whaling dispute harder to realise – for speaking out. “Julia Gillard is the only politician who has had the courage to say something about the illegal activities Japan has undertaken; the rest of them are hiding behind Japan’s kimonos as far as I can see.” It’s a fair call given pre-election promises by Kevin Rudd that he would engage the Japanese illegal whaling activities under the guise of research, amongst other intra-political matters along the employment lines, and delivered on none of them.

Captain Watson was especially scathing of New Zealand Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully, who has said it was not the NZ Government’s responsibility to send armed vessels to protect people “determined to break the law”. “The Minister of Foreign Affairs has made ignorant and unsubstantiated accusations and he should apologise and if he refuses to apologise he should be asked to resign,” Mr Watson said. A fair call given the almost blatent public backing of Japan’s piratical acts over the past decade in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary.

“How dare he take Japan’s side in this issue against his own citizens? If a Sea Shepherd ship had rammed and sunk a Japanese ship, there would be no hesitation in sending a Navy ship to the Southern Ocean with a warrant of arrest.” It’s unfortunate no governments are taking any action, especially in light of the new evidence that the Japanese vessel intentionally rammed and sunk the yacht.

Below is the only footage to go by prior to the release of footage from the Ady Gil’s cameraman, yes you have to click this to view it, but here’s two views, one from a Sea Shepherd ship and another from the pirate whalers (language warning ahoy): –

Australian Police using DNA Profiling

Police say DNA has become a vital crime-fighting tool and helps speed up clean-up rates. In Queensland they have taken DNA samples of children, which figures under Right to Information legislation have revealed, a collection of DNA from 1275 children aged between 10 and 16. earmarked as the next generation of criminals was carried out.

Civil libertarians have accused the police and State Government of giving up on Queensland’s youth and focusing more on convictions than on rehabilitation. Civil Liberties Australia chief executive Bill Rowlings said it was an infringement of civil rights because, while the law ensured a child’s criminal record was not carried through into adulthood, it would not stop their DNA remaining in criminal databases indefinitely.

Last year, the Queensland Police Service caught 33,644 juvenile offenders. “Some of these children might be guilty of stealing a Mars Bar and for that the Queensland police are prepared to put them on a national criminal register, possibly for life,” he said.

The average daily number of juveniles in custody in Australia is 800. Youth Affairs Network Queensland director Siyavash Doostkhah said he was against taking DNA from children and called on the Government to fund more rehabilitation and youth mentoring programs.

“It never brings any safety to the community,” Mr Doostkhah said. “If we get more tough, if we collect more DNA and have more cameras out there . . . it doesn’t stop crime, it just brings convictions.” That being said the Australian law enforcement industry as a whole is fed by conviction basis, meaning that budgets are given and awards recieved for numeric dominance over the population as opposed to deterrence or rehabilitation.

A Department of Communities spokesman said there were currently about 139 young people in detention in Queensland and insisted it was a priority to focus on rehabilitation for young offenders.

Artists Must Prove it’s not Porn

Painters and photographers will no longer be able to rely on a defence of artistic merit under an overhaul of child pornography laws in  Australia. Nearly two years after police raided Melbourne artist Bill Henson’s contentious exhibition, the Government will legislate to force artists to account for their works. A ‘working party’ set up by the Government in the wake of the May, 2008, controversy over Henson’s child exhibits has recommended the artistic-merit defence be struck out.

As much as I despise child pornography and those who would produce it or in any way exploit a child, I loath more those who would demand that those facing charges ‘prove’ their ‘innocence’, and equally loath those who would repress art under a moralistic dogma of puritanism last seen amongst the nazi’s.

The report also recommends the introduction of laws making it easier for police to investigate child pornography and for juries and court staff to participate in trials for these offences. This suggestion follows concern within the legal fraternity of the impact that the viewing of child pornography evidence has on jury members, many of whom find the process distressing.

The working party has recommended the law be changed so jury members, prosecutors and court staff are able to view only a sample of images during the trial process.

The assumption is the jury will be shown images and told to assume that there are far worse images, which is somewhat similar to the ‘terrorism’ charges where individuals in this civil liberty stricken nation can be charged and not be told what they’re being charged with, going as far as even refusing to tell the judge what the charges are.

Here I was thinking we voted out the neo-conservative lobby. Besides, what IS art and what IS porn? Can porn be art? Can art be porn? Something tells me the answer to those questions is ‘whichever yields the most convictions’ given that the Australian justice system’s prosecution works on a conviction quota for it’s budget.

Chairman Rudd and his Glorious Workers Party has once again shown us that we don’t have bipartisan politics, but both parties are batshit insane hardline right wingers. As much as I hate talking about politics, and don’t assume I’m a lefty, I’m quite solidly centrist as a civil libertarian.

Fast Cash Scams / MLM

Twitter users, this is almost exclusively for you. I know it’s Boxing day, or Christmas in some places, and it’s a time for being happy and avoiding anything ‘heavy’, and I’m sure I’ll lose a few fans for this post but I simply MUST say it.

Every day I get my arse spammed off by good hearted dim witted folks (see: twats) trying to promote their formula of get rich quick / make money / cash for tweeting crap. From the ‘Trump Network’ through to all kinds of rubbish, every single one of them requires you 1. purchase something to ‘teach you’ to 2. be a spammer like the person who spammed you, and none 3. provide any real financial income other than one or two success stories that are not verifiable in any way.

What these dimwits don’t realise is, scamming online may seem easy, it might even seem good natured, hell they may even have justified themselves so well that they believe that it IS a business opportunity; but the fact of the matter is, it’s a crime.

Every nation around the world has various penal codes or laws preventing online fraud, and all of these multi-level marketing scams are online fraud. Every person sending you a get rich quick scam spam message could be reported to Twitter or local authorities and pursued. But the internet community just sucks it up and ignores it. Problem is, some people don’t. Right now I’m sure there’s families rather destitute due to scammers who’re having an absolutely crap Christmas.

Remember that next time you see a spammer, remove them from your list and @reply pointing out that they’re a scammer and hell, link them to this post: – http://bit.ly/81Nu6Z

Hope you all had/have/are having a Merry Christmas, keep in mind your good fortune this time of year!

Norway Spiral, Sky Phenomena

A true UFO was spotted in the early hours of the 9th of November, 2009 in Norway. What started off as a blue light soaring up from behind a mountain stopped mid-air, quickly morphing into a giant spiral white spiral on the end of a concaved cone of light, bending far more than a cone of light should in on itself then hung in the sky for about ten to twelve minutes, depending on the eyewitnesses’ account. It then disappeared completely. It was filmed by dozens of people from different angles, with one piece of footage zooming in to the end of the cone of blue light, depicting what appears to be a large plume of red hued smoke similar to that of a very lage bush fire.

Different responses have occured, with various special interest groups offering vague explainations from atmospheric phenomena to large hadron collider paranoia through to a ‘failed icbm test by the Russians’, the latter usually coming with the caveat that it was from an ‘anonymous source within the Russian military’ (see: bullshit).

Other less outlandish theories even dabble in the fourth dimensional cross-over, a natural worm hole opening, through to a micro galaxy collision with our atmosphere, the latter of which often cites the vacuous hole left behind as a mini black hole after the micro galaxy collapsed in on itself, shedding it’s orbiting mass.

The mainstream media has run with the ‘runaway rocket’ story far too swiftly and buried it pretty fast, as a google search will yield as far as very little material being out there on it outside of batshit insane conspiracy theorist sites. Thankfully a lot of Norwegians upped their footage to YouTube so we’re inundated with footage but very few reasonable sources are willing to talk or comment about it.

Any and all of the potential explanations, regardless how outlandish, may be possibilities, but all I’m going to do right now is show you some photos and some video and let you make up your own minds, please comment if you find this interesting.

Worlds largest industrial accident

Surfing the net I accidentally stumbled across Union Carbide’s (now owned by Dow) biggest secret and the worlds largest industrial accident. This is an out of character post, I intend to steer away from acitivismesque style posts of all kinds but I’m just stunned I’d never heard of it before.

More than 20,000 have thus far died from their injuries sustained in the leak of a toxic gas which is the primary ingredient of pesticides in December 1984. Over 150,000 people suffer from ongoing pollution from the factory and remnant toxicity from the original incident which means it’s almost 1,000 times larger than Chernobyl. How the hell have I never heard of this?

Read more about the Bhopal disaster here, here, and here. Warning though, the bhopal site condones quackery and woo trying to praise herbal remedies as a solution to the toxic effects the villagers are suffering, which is patent nonsense.
