場合には、苦情等が見てもクソはありません。 Once we start the OMG OFFENSE game on the Internet it's game over to free speech. Besides, there's a lot of us out there who enjoy trolling racists, that being said I'm not sure whether ED is inherently racist or more offensive for the sake of causing offence, I'd probably say the latter.
Interestingly the article on news.com.au was pulled due to the comments field being flooded with trolling from btards. :P
It's Follow Friday in Australia, and normally I just accept recommendations of randoms to follow, but I figured I should try and point out a few users each week who I actively read, who won't try and sell you some fucking MLM marketing scam, and who aren't boring. I'll do this in no particular order, so don't think I love any of you more than the other. If you don't make the cut, nag me in DM, or better yet bribe me with votes in the Shorty Awards.
Speaking of Shorty Awards, follow the folks who've thrown me votes, and vote for me to inadvertently gain exposure from this post at http://shortyawards.com/bashpr0mpt where I'm up in nominations for #humor, #weird, #gaming, #design, # celebrity , and other random things. I'm almost in the top twenty for most categories too, so vote for me and I'll find some way to compensate you, kidneys and firstborns are options. Also follow the folks who vote for me, they follow back and are the real active twitter types who've caught my attention. :)
So, here's the BaSH PR0MPT #FF short (very short) list for this week. And remember, I don't know half of you half as well as I should like and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve!

として血汗症(また血汗症と呼ばれる、明らかにメディアの彼は必要な一般的な慣行に戻ります)博士ブキャナン、または誤って伝えているだけが、文書化は非常にまれな状態は、人間の汗血。 It may occur when a person is suffering extreme levels of stress, for example, facing his or her own death. Several historical references have been described; notably by Leonardo da Vinci: describing a soldier who sweated blood before battle, men unexpectedly given a death sentence, as well as descriptions in the Bible, that Jesus experienced hematidrosis when he was praying in the garden of Gethsemane (Luke 22,44).
Hemochromatosis, another form of sweating blood, is a disorder due to deposition of hemosiderin in the parenchymal cells, causing tissue damage and dysfunction of the liver, pancreas, heart, and pituitary. Other clinical signs include bronze pigmentation of skin which may fly under the radar given the girls complexion, arthropathy, diabetes, cirrhosis, hepatosplenomegaly, hypogonadism, and loss of body hair, none of which are evident. Full development of the disease among women is restricted by menstruation and pregnancy.
According to Dr. Frederick Zugibe, Chief Medical Examiner of Rockland County, New York, sweating blood is well-known, and there have been many cases of it, “Around the sweat glands, there are multiple blood vessels in a net-like form. Under the pressure of great stress the vessels constrict. Then as the anxiety passes the blood vessels dilate to the point of rupture. The blood goes into the sweat glands. As the sweat glands are producing a lot of sweat, it pushes the blood to the surface – coming out as droplets of blood mixed with sweat.”
In a lecture, Dr. Zugibe stated: “The severe mental anxiety…activated the sympathetic nervous system to invoke the stress-fight or flight reaction to such a degree causing hemorrhage of the vessels supplying the sweat glands into the ducts of the sweat glands and extruding out onto the skin. While hematidrosis has been reported to occur from other rare medical entities, the presence of profound fear accounted for a significant number of reported cases including six cases in men condemned to execution, a case occurring during the London blitz, a case involving a fear of being raped, a fear of a storm while sailing, etc. The effects on the body is that of weakness and mild to moderate dehydration from the severe anxiety and both the blood and sweat loss.”
After super conservative fuckwits jumped up and down while the mainstream media was being ambiguous about the ramming of the Ady Gil, originally referring to it as 'allegedly rammed', more video has come to light, and even the mainstream media are releasing the footage from the Ady Gil's cameraman around about the place that shows without doubt the Japanese vessel moved to ram the Ady Gil, which was floating dead in the water with all crew on deck taking a break, including the captain.
Earlier in the week, Japanese whalers and their puppet 'research' groups in New Zealand (who have, off the record, been showing strong pro-whaling flags backing Japan, in exchange for Japanese funding of course) claimed that the Ady Gil pulled in their way at the last minute causing the collision and went as far as demanding that Australia intervene against Sea Shepherd.
Captain Paul Watson of Sea Shepherd announced that $170,000 was pledged in the first few hours after the incident while more was flooding in following the screening of a Sea Shepherd advert featuring Transformers actress Isabel Lucas to replace the $3,000,000 dollar stealth yacht the whalers sunk.
Captain Watson also praised Australian Acting Prime Minister Julia Gillard – who has been accused by Japan of inflaming public opinion and making diplomatic resolution of the whaling dispute harder to realise – for speaking out. “Julia Gillard is the only politician who has had the courage to say something about the illegal activities Japan has undertaken; the rest of them are hiding behind Japan's kimonos as far as I can see.” It's a fair call given pre-election promises by Kevin Rudd that he would engage the Japanese illegal whaling activities under the guise of research, amongst other intra-political matters along the employment lines, and delivered on none of them.
Captain Watson was especially scathing of New Zealand Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully, who has said it was not the NZ Government's responsibility to send armed vessels to protect people “determined to break the law ”. “The Minister of Foreign Affairs has made ignorant and unsubstantiated accusations and he should apologise and if he refuses to apologise he should be asked to resign,” Mr Watson said. A fair call given the almost blatent public backing of Japan's piratical acts over the past decade in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary.
“How dare he take Japan's side in this issue against his own citizens? If a Sea Shepherd ship had rammed and sunk a Japanese ship, there would be no hesitation in sending a Navy ship to the Southern Ocean with a warrant of arrest.” It's unfortunate no governments are taking any action, especially in light of the new evidence that the Japanese vessel intentionally rammed and sunk the yacht.
I've had many an argument online with folks obsessed with 'you'll go blind' mentality towards video games, amongst other things. I feel vindicated today as I read that a study found video games are “good for eyes”, far from being harmful to eyesight action games provide excellent training for what eye doctors call contrast sensitivity.
Contrast sensitivity is the ability to notice tiny changes in shades of grey against a uniform background, and is critical to everyday activities such as night driving and reading. It often degrades with age.
The findings, published in Nature Neuroscience, reveal a previously unsuspected adaptability in the brain, and could open the way to new therapies, the researchers said. ”This is not a skill that people were supposed to get better at by training,” said Daphne Bavelier, a professor at the University of Rochester in New York state and the study's lead researcher.
”It was something that we corrected for at the level of the optics of the eye – to get better contrast detection you get glasses or laser surgery.”
”What we found is that even without this correction you can help your brain make better use of whatever information is received from your retina,” she said.
For the study, Bavelier and three colleagues conducted two sets of experiments. In the first, they compared the contrast sensitivity of hard-core action game players with video game aficionados of the same age who preferred less rapid-fire fare.
In action games, players typically target and shoot figures that pop up suddenly on a computer screen. The researchers found that the action buffs were 50 percent more efficient at detecting contrast. But there remained a chicken-or-egg question: had their vision been improved by playing, or did they become action game players because they had better than average contrast sensitivity to start with?
To find out, Bavelier asked two groups of non-action video game players to undergo 50 hours of training. One played a popular point-and-shoot game called Call of Duty, and the other played a game that offered a rich visual experience, but one bereft of action.
”We found that the people in the first group improved by 43 percent, and the other group not at all,” she said. As important, the study also found that the improvement was not transitory. ”The positive effect remained months, even years after training, indicating long-lasting gains,” she said.
Is there some limit beyond which playing action games loses its positive effect or becomes detrimental? Can you, in other words, have too much of a 'good thing'?
“For your visual system, probably not. For your social life, perhaps,” said Bavelier.
In what is billed as a world first, a life-size robotic girlfriend complete with artificial intelligence and flesh-like synthetic skin was introduced to adoring fans at the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas.
“She can't vacuum, she can't cook but she can do almost anything else if you know what I mean,” TrueCompanion's Douglas Hines said while introducing Roxxxy to the world, needless to say most men would see that as a fair trade off.
“She's a companion. She has a personality. She hears you. She listens to you. She speaks. She feels your touch. She goes to sleep. We are trying to replicate a personality of a person.”
Roxxxy stands 170cm (five feet, seven inches) tall, weighs 54.43kg (120lbs), “has a full C cup and is ready for action,” according to Hines, who was an artificial intelligence engineer at Bell Labs before starting TrueCompanion.
Roxxxy comes with five personalities. Wild Wendy is outgoing and adventurous, while Frigid Farrah is reserved and shy.
There is a young naive personality along with a Mature Martha that Hines described as having a “matriarchal kind of caring”. S & M Susan is geared for more adventurous types.
Aspiring partners can customise Roxxxy features, including race, hair colour and breast size. A male sex robot named Rocky is in development.
People ordering the robots online at truecompanion.com detail their tastes and interests much like online dating sites but here, the information is used to get the mechanical girlfriend in synch with her mate.
Has anyone else noticed that user @AdorianDeck and his bum chum @brysonen are the users behind the recent cash in on the #omgfacts trend of Twitter creating @OMGFacts? Has anyone noticed how all of their facts tend to be wrong?
It's like they've googled 'list ob kool faxtz' and are just copy-pasting without any critical evaluation or quality control. Idk about you, but shit like that drives me up the wall. On average most humans are pig shit ignorant, but 'pop sci' facts are the bane of academia, science, and thought. Nutshell 'facts' may be easy for the ignorant to digest, but they get stuck in the craw of anyone of any education.
It's possibly one of my biggest pet piss offs, it's always the pseudo-intellectual type who everyone knows are full of a substance other than book-learnin's who spout such shit, propogated by morons, who later take these facts to be truths self evidently held on the grounds that they read it on 'teh interwebs lololol~`!1′
I'm calling you out, bitch. @OMGFacts, employ some form of quality control, or hand the account over to your nearest University. But whatever you do, don't let @DrKarl touch it, his pop sci facts are almost as ubiquitously fucking WRONG and flawed as yours are.
Police say DNA has become a vital crime-fighting tool and helps speed up clean-up rates. In Queensland they have taken DNA samples of children, which figures under Right to Information legislation have revealed, a collection of DNA from 1275 children aged between 10 and 16. earmarked as the next generation of criminals was carried out.
Civil libertarians have accused the police and State Government of giving up on Queensland's youth and focusing more on convictions than on rehabilitation. Civil Liberties Australia chief executive Bill Rowlings said it was an infringement of civil rights because, while the law ensured a child's criminal record was not carried through into adulthood, it would not stop their DNA remaining in criminal databases indefinitely.
Last year, the Queensland Police Service caught 33,644 juvenile offenders. “Some of these children might be guilty of stealing a Mars Bar and for that the Queensland police are prepared to put them on a national criminal register, possibly for life,” he said.
The average daily number of juveniles in custody in Australia is 800. Youth Affairs Network Queensland director Siyavash Doostkhah said he was against taking DNA from children and called on the Government to fund more rehabilitation and youth mentoring programs.
“It never brings any safety to the community,” Mr Doostkhah said. “If we get more tough, if we collect more DNA and have more cameras out there . 。 。 it doesn't stop crime, it just brings convictions.” That being said the Australian law enforcement industry as a whole is fed by conviction basis, meaning that budgets are given and awards recieved for numeric dominance over the population as opposed to deterrence or rehabilitation.
A Department of Communities spokesman said there were currently about 139 young people in detention in Queensland and insisted it was a priority to focus on rehabilitation for young offenders.
A wireless technology industry group has claimed that mobile phone conversations are still safe from eavesdropping in the wake of German researcher Karsten Nohl's leaking of code used to unscramble calls made by most of the worlds phones last week.
The London-based GSM Association yesterday said that it has spent the past few years figuring out ways to thwart hackers who might try to tap into wireless calls using Nohl's research, which it first learned of in 2007.
GSM Association engineers have figured out a short-term solution to block eavesdroppers, said James Moran, head of security for the association. It involves making slight changes to the settings in each wireless operator's network. Carriers can quickly make those adjustments by tweaking existing features in the technology, Mr Moran said.
Mr Nohl's research applies to GSM technology, which runs about 80 per cent of the world's mobile phones, including systems run by AT&T, Deutsche Telekom and France Telecom. Over the next several years, GSM carriers will adopt a new standard for encrypting, or scrambling, voice conversations that will be tougher to crack, according to Mr Moran.
Painters and photographers will no longer be able to rely on a defence of artistic merit under an overhaul of child pornography laws in Australia. Nearly two years after police raided Melbourne artist Bill Henson's contentious exhibition, the Government will legislate to force artists to account for their works. A 'working party' set up by the Government in the wake of the May, 2008, controversy over Henson's child exhibits has recommended the artistic-merit defence be struck out.
As much as I despise child pornography and those who would produce it or in any way exploit a child, I loath more those who would demand that those facing charges 'prove' their 'innocence', and equally loath those who would repress art under a moralistic dogma of puritanism last seen amongst the nazi's.
The report also recommends the introduction of laws making it easier for police to investigate child pornography and for juries and court staff to participate in trials for these offences. This suggestion follows concern within the legal fraternity of the impact that the viewing of child pornography evidence has on jury members, many of whom find the process distressing.
The working party has recommended the law be changed so jury members, prosecutors and court staff are able to view only a sample of images during the trial process.
The assumption is the jury will be shown images and told to assume that there are far worse images, which is somewhat similar to the 'terrorism' charges where individuals in this civil liberty stricken nation can be charged and not be told what they're being charged with, going as far as even refusing to tell the judge what the charges are.
Here I was thinking we voted out the neo-conservative lobby. Besides, what IS art and what IS porn? Can porn be art? Can art be porn? Something tells me the answer to those questions is 'whichever yields the most convictions' given that the Australian justice system's prosecution works on a conviction quota for it's budget.
Chairman Rudd and his Glorious Workers Party has once again shown us that we don't have bipartisan politics , but both parties are batshit insane hardline right wingers. As much as I hate talking about politics , and don't assume I'ma lefty, I'm quite solidly centrist as a civil libertarian.
Twitter, the popular but money-losing microblogging service, is hiring engineers and specialists who can help turn it into a money-maker.
The 2-1/2-year-old Internet start-up, whose short text messages or “tweets” have become a global social phenomenon, is building up a team focused on generating revenue with a new range of yet-to-be launched products, judging by job postings on the company's website.
Among the 26 job openings listed on Twitter's site, four are specifically identified as being devoted to “monetization.” Striking licensing deals are key responsibilities for two other jobs.
“Twitter is looking for new members of our technical staff to work on cutting edge monetization projects,” several of the postings said.
The move to invest in such projects signals that making money is becoming a bigger priority at Twitter, as it seeks to evolve from being one of the Web's fastest-growing social media firms into a self-sustaining online business.
“The company has crossed into the phase where monetization matters. They're ramping it up,” said a source close to Twitter who did not wish to speak on the record about its finances.
A Twitter spokesperson said co-founder Biz Stone was not immediately available for comment. The company has about 120 employees, she said.
Tweets, which are limited to 140 characters, have grown into an established communications medium that has played a key role in world events such as the post-election protests in Iran last summer.
“They know they're here for the long term now, so they need to turn on these monetization engines,” said Altimeter Group analyst Jeremiah Owyang.
Twitter, a privately held company, does not report earnings, but its website says: “While our business model is in a research phase, we spend more money than we make.”
The company spokesperson did not confirm if that is still accurate.
Twitter struck deals in October — widely reported to total $25 million — to license its data feed to Google Inc and Microsoft Corp, allowing tweets to appear within search results on the companies' Internet search engines.
The job postings make it clear that generating revenue beyond the licensing deals is one of the 2010 priorities for Twitter, said Altimeter's Owyang.
Twitter, which recently moved into a larger office space in San Francisco, had 19.4 million unique visitors to its US website in November, according to comScore, up sharply from the 1.5 million visitors a year earlier. Many industry watchers believe the actual number of worldwide Twitter users is much higher, since many people access the service through third-party applications instead of the website.
In September, Twitter raised $100 million in a move that valued the company at $1 billion, according to a person familiar with the matter, from backers including mutual fund giant T. Rowe Price and private equity firm Insight Venture Partners.
Twitter executives have said in the past that the company is interested in offering premium services, such as analytic tools for certain customers, and that it was exploring ways to integrate advertising into the service.
According to the job postings, the company is seeking engineers to build out the infrastructure and front-end features to support monetization systems that include “customer applications and reporting.”
A posting for a product marketing manager for monetization said the person would focus on “enhancing business users' understanding of the value of Twitter.”

The other day pirate Japanese whalers rammed a Sea Shepherd vessel during 'scientific' whaling operations that were deemed illegal by the HCA in Australian territorial waters of the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary. (read the report here: http://tr.im/JIY7 ) Their actions drew the usual irritation of the global community that the Japanese are still scamming their arses off trying to use loopholes to commercially whale.
Glen Inwood of the ICR, the Japanese government sponsored 'research' organisation spoke briefly this morning on the issue, getting railed by reporters and asked many hard questions. He claimed that their research is to 'establish whether commercial whaling is sustainable,' and to do this research they need to use lethal research methods, defending the commercial operation stating the IWC set a 'requirement that the meat goes on the market' before running the usual fake 'tradition' defence that has been debunked by many a researcher interviewing average Japanese citizens on the issue.
It was ironic hearing Glen Inwood spouting that to convince IWC that whaling can be sustained they 'need to whale,' and that they were merely trying to 'obtain data' on commerial sustainable whaling. One interviewer nailed him, asking “When will you have adequate data?” after citing a list of whales to be slaughtered this 'season,' to which he immediately stated “All of your figures are wrong.” and beat around the bush before admitting it is “Indefinite research.”
He stopped short of outright admitting it's all just a Japanese government sponsored scam, but toes the line of his puppeteers well. The interviewer ultimately asked if he can understand why whaling pisses the average Australian off given that it's in our waters, illegally conducted, and in a whale sanctuary; he floundered before trying to claim many nations deny Australia's claim to the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary.
He didn't quite elaborate if there were any nations aside from Japan and Norway, the two nations that still illegally whale regardless of the worldwide moratorium, that deny Australia's claims to it's own territorial waters.
He ended stating the usually tripe of the political correctness defence of “It's a cultural tradition that Australians will need to learn to respect.”
Let's hope they try and ram a vessel that isn't 1/10th their size, maybe the Steve Irwin next? They wouldn't have the gall, IMHO, a tiny fiberglass trimaran is an easy mark.
Where to begin. Apparently Optus Vision doesn't exist anymore, their lame resale of Foxtel cable TV is winding up and they will only cater for existing customers. I rang their sales line only to be told to ring back between office hours (which I shouldn't have to do) to contact their accounts team and they outright refused a sale of a $3,000+ contract for TV and home phone services.
なぜ?
Because they can't manage a sales team and haven't even trained their existing sales team in how to sell an upgrade, or anything beyond merely regurgitating advertising materials, or so said the Optus sales person I was speaking to in a more off the record chat of frustrations.
I kind of figured something was up, although haven't read any news about it; however optus.com.au only listed mobile and internet plans, no mention of TV anywhere, and optusvision.com.au seems to have been hijacked by a domain parker account. Seems they can't even manage their own intellectual property rights, no wonder they can't assist someone wanting to throw cash at them.
Optus Mobile coverage is equally abysmal, when you do get a bar of service that is. They've been 'setting up a new tower' in my area for the past ten years, every few weeks for a laugh I call up and complain about lack of service with intent to one day get a copy of my account contact with them and mail it to their head office with a big frowny face drawn on it. Although, in good news, I found I'm no longer in contract so I can fuck off to Telstra with that one too.
Their internet, on the other hand, is an entirely new shade of shit. They had to hire designers to create the shade of shit of their connectivity, lack of plans, and shaping. Their plans were savvy, in the 90's, but stayed in the 90's with 20 gb cap being the largest offering they had until their recent 90 gb scam offer (more on that in a tick), when you hit your cap you're shaped down to '64k', however whilst your contract and their site says this, they consider anywhere down to 2k to be 'acceptable' shaping, or so I've been told numerous times when I've been shaped down to even under 1k.
Their latest offering of broadband internet is whimsical. Their speeds are about 8 meg at the best of times, which I'll admit is not bad for broadband in Australia, however that's only on their pre-2000 connections, the rest are all speed limited, shaped, and redirected up the whazoo–a mate of mine's broadband from home to optus server out to the wilds of the internet had 38 hops, 30 of which were in the same Optus building–newer connections really don't cut the mustard.
They are, however, offering a whopping 90 GIGABYTES DOWNSTREAM CAP. Although, it's at twice the price of TPG's 120 GB downstream plan, AND, if you read the fine print with Optus, it's 30 GB during peak time (midday to midnight) and 60 GB off peak, reducing to 30 GB off peak during the second year of your two year contract, so they're selling you a 30 GB account, period, pretty much. The kicker to it all is, they count your upstream in your traffic. Upstream is free, it always has been, and always will be, with all primary backbones and internet service providers, however due to the average internet user being an ignorant twat and the fact consumers rarely ever cause a stir when getting dicked we're faced with our upstream being accounted for and charged for.
Think of it this way, they get their upstream through the major telco pipelines they use free, they charge you anywhere up to 400% the cost they pay for their downstream on your downstream, then charge you 100% for your upstream, that's raising their profit margin an additional 100% to a whopping 500% of what their overheads are: for what their product is really worth on a resale level.
I've contacted Optus in the past, recently actually, asking them why I should bother staying with them, given that I've been an Optus customer since they arrived in the country back in '96 – '97 and stayed with them even when they merged with the big flop telco SingTel, and got some copy pasted default reply from some braindead office wank.
It's sad to say though, I expected no different. Australian companies have become Americanised, customer loyalty isn't something they care about anymore, there's plenty of saps left in the world to be sucked in to various plans and packages that sound good at face value.
It's time for me to switch services. Foxtel straight from the source, Telstra for their epic mobile network coverage and functional 3G network, and TPG for their brilliant naked ADSL2+ plans with huge caps with shaping down to 1 meg when you go over cap as opposed to 1k with Optus.
I'm guessing SingTel are just using Optus as a tax write off, because they sure aren't looking to make money in Australia anymore.
