Norway Spiral, Sky Phenomena

A true UFO was spotted in the early hours of the 9th of November, 2009 in Norway. What started off as a blue light soaring up from behind a mountain stopped mid-air, quickly morphing into a giant spiral white spiral on the end of a concaved cone of light, bending far more than a cone of light should in on itself then hung in the sky for about ten to twelve minutes, depending on the eyewitnesses’ account. It then disappeared completely. It was filmed by dozens of people from different angles, with one piece of footage zooming in to the end of the cone of blue light, depicting what appears to be a large plume of red hued smoke similar to that of a very lage bush fire.

Different responses have occured, with various special interest groups offering vague explainations from atmospheric phenomena to large hadron collider paranoia through to a ‘failed icbm test by the Russians’, the latter usually coming with the caveat that it was from an ‘anonymous source within the Russian military’ (see: bullshit).

Other less outlandish theories even dabble in the fourth dimensional cross-over, a natural worm hole opening, through to a micro galaxy collision with our atmosphere, the latter of which often cites the vacuous hole left behind as a mini black hole after the micro galaxy collapsed in on itself, shedding it’s orbiting mass.

The mainstream media has run with the ‘runaway rocket’ story far too swiftly and buried it pretty fast, as a google search will yield as far as very little material being out there on it outside of batshit insane conspiracy theorist sites. Thankfully a lot of Norwegians upped their footage to YouTube so we’re inundated with footage but very few reasonable sources are willing to talk or comment about it.

Any and all of the potential explanations, regardless how outlandish, may be possibilities, but all I’m going to do right now is show you some photos and some video and let you make up your own minds, please comment if you find this interesting.

Forza 3 Car Giveaway

Forza Motorsport 3 Car Giveaway
I usually give away a lot of things, from vinyl designs to general graphics and the like, but this time I’ve decided to take it another step further. Add bashpr0mpt to twitter. Every Saturday for the next five weeks I will be giving away a Forza 3 motorsports car.

What’s the deal? There is no deal, I want to meet more forza players who’re active on social networks, this is a sweet way. Is this a scam? Nope! Are you mad? Yes, to be giving away a bloody R3 let alone an R2 rated car (looking at 500k base for an R3 and 1.5m for a nice R2) I’d have to be.

How do you win it? Every Saturday get as many fellow racers, or twitterers you know to follow me and @bashpr0mpt me your xbox gamer tag associated with your Forza 3 account and the person who gets me the greatest number of crazed car loving gamers gets the car. It’s as easy as that. Make sure they simply follow me, and @ me your tag.

Week 1′s Prize
2009 Citroen C4 VTS
D-350

This is an ideal car for a beginner to Forza or even someone who’s been playing a while yet is still in the hatch range. This 1,221 kg Citroen is running full race displacement 1.8L block with racing valves and an Ansa sport exhaust’s dump spooling up a Garret sport turbo, blowing out 177 kW of power and 345 Nm of torque in a tight package.

This ride is specifically designed as a dream for racers who’re still getting the hang of the game, it runs 14.61 quarter miles, and does 0-97 kph in 6.405 seconds (or 0-161 in 15.172) so it’s definitely a quick car for it’s class, it is at the highest performance level it can be yet still fall inside the D range.

Aside from driving well, it looks great with a custom bodykit from Ibher Design, smooth carbon fibre with metallic black ghost GT stripes up it sleaks across the top while the side has chameleon detailing disecting the cold clean white of this machine.

This little beast cost 20,000 new with five times that worth of engineering–at least–sunk into it it’s going to be the property of one lucky racer out there.

Xbox 360p (laptop!)

Xbox 360p (laptop!)

I was reviewing the generic trendy design sites I tend to regularly read when I came across this novel idea. Years ago I used to custom make my desktops, and would go out of my way to make them as tiny as possible, even forking out big bucks for solid state hard drives, something that has only just recently become industry standard for micro pc’s. You can imaging my amusement when I found this.

An Xbox 360p, (see: laptop!) modified by Benheck. It has all the functionality of an Xbox 360 just bunged into a nice little aluminium chassis and coupled with a neat little display. The design, albeit a little on the chunky side, is reasonably chic, I love the keyboard accents and the integration of the green wheel Xbox front end being where a trackball would be on a laptop.

Hidden behind it’s chic design is a rather impressive heat sinking system, so no RROD (Red Ring of Death) recovery there as you’d be hard pressed to overheat this laptop.

Somehow I doubt it’s functional purpose, given that an xbox is reasonably portable, and you generally use a laptops portability for university or work related stuff. Also given the commonality of games consoles and access to them, it packages this into the box of “random yet cool” gadget at best.

I dunno though, I kind of like it.

It does, however, seem the easiest way to make money, period. I’ve got spiffy scarlet dyed robes and leather spaulders equipped, and a nifty sword I just picked up after your original sword (which you only get when your father is arrested along with your initial white robes) is disarmed and taken from you in a cut scene by some very serious business looking guards in platemail.

I’ve racked up about 100 achievement points doing very little for my xbox account though, they make you feel like gaming has a purpose other than wasting time. Speaking of the time, it’s nearing 6 AM. :/

Xbox hacking, custom photos

So, I’ve noticed the Xbox only allows you to have a VERY restricted choice of gamer pictures, and the only way to get PERSONAL pictures up is to take a photo of yourself through the special massively overpriced xbox webcam which only your friends can see. It’s still rather lame you can’t upload graphics, so after an hour or so wasting time on google to make sure that there is no possible way out there to make custom gamer personal pics I decided to think a little laterally.

If you can hack this up, you can mount any graphic. Keep in mind, at the moment people take photos of drawings and shit or try and take photos of their laptop screen and it all looks terribly fail.

The thing you want to be able to customise is here, and is only visible when you have your webcam plugged in.

The only way I can think of doing it is to splice the webcam’s cable onto an RSA video cable and plug it into a PC with a TV/AV card and mount it as a display. So you’ll fool the xbox into thinking it’s viewing through a webcam but it’s really viewing your computers screen. Then you load up any image you want to use as your personal picture, and mount it full-screen, then save it on the xbox as though you were taking a ‘photo’ through your webcam.

Downside is you butcher a perfectly good albeit massively overpriced proprietary camera, upside is the epic buff of your geek points off the richter. I’ll give it a shot sometime in the near future and will post results if someone doesn’t inb4 me and hack up their camera.
